The area itself is beautiful and offers a wealth of attractions to suit all tastes including pretty villages sandy beaches and a coastline which has World Heritage status. There are many National Trust properties and gardens that are all well worth a visit including Stourhead Montacute Kingston Lacy Corfe Castle Hardy s Cottage and Studland Beach and Nature Reserve. In addition to this the towns of Dorchester Sherborne and Yeovil are easily accessible and there are many attractions to visit including Monkey World The Tank Museum a Sea Life Centre Abbotsbury Swannery and Longleat. For golf enthusiasts there is a golf course 300 yards away but if golf is not your game there are many other country pursuits within easy reach. Leisure facilities: shared indoor heated leisure pool (4 deep throughout) perfect for the summer and winter alike the pool is open 8.30am-8pm every day however private bookings are taken occasionally further information and timetables can be found onsite the pool is also open to non-residents by prior arrangement. Outside: the grounds offer stunning views of the surrounding countryside as well as two large lakes which attract a wealth of wildlife including herons badgers kingfishers woodpeckers and swans. At the bottom of the gardens and beyond the lakes is a gate which leads direct onto a network of footpaths where you will be free to walk and take in the stunning scenery. Amenities: ample parking. Bed linen towels electric and central heating included. Wi-fi available. Location: lake fishing 4 miles. Beaches at Lyme Regis and Weymouth within a 45 minute drive. Village shop 0.5 mile 2 pubs 0.5 mile. All on the ground floor and offers TWO bedrooms: 1 double with en-suite shower over bath and WC 1 twin bedroom with en-suite wet room and WC. Lounge/kitchen/diner: with TV DVD and woodburner. Kitchen area with cooker microwave fridge freezer dishwasher and washing machine. Outside: private patio area with seating. Sherborne is a market town in Dorset, England. It is located on the River Yeo not far from Oborne, Folke, Milborne Wick, Yetminster, Yeovil, and Bishops Caundle and is one of over 130 towns and villages in Dorset in which Go2 has cottages or holidays lets available. The closest cities are Wells (population 10,406), Bristol (population 420,556), and Salisbury (which has a population of 43,355 according to the 2001 Census).
The major A30 route connecting London with the South West passes through Sherborne, making it very easy to access. Thw town also had good rail access with its own station. Sherborne is famous for its historic buildings including Sherborne Abbey, a manor house, two castles and the well known independent schools. An ochre coloured ham stone is used in the construction of many of the famous medieval and Georgian buildings in the old town, which gives the town's architecture its distinctive appearance.
